The bears climb a large hill to reach a book, but Melody slows them down. The others create different ways to motivate Melody to keep going up.

When Crystal and Scout try to make a surprise snow bear for Boomer and Melody, they are puzzled when they realize that Boomer and Melody are trying to make the same surprise snow bear for themselves.

The bears learn that it is possible to solve a puzzle by using clues. Crystal solves the puzzle by asking them to give her an accurate description of what they see and by solving the mystery of the snake bird in the bush, which turns out to be a peacock.

Boomer likes to play "Blue Boom Boom," but he has trouble adjusting when others want to change the game. He is learning to be flexible and try new things.

The bears are looking for books near a farm, but when they come across a baby bird and a baby horse, Boomer doesn't understand why they can't do the same things as all the other birds and horses.

Scout is startled by a crow and is not happy about being scared off so easily. So when the bears come across a scarecrow, Scout decides to be one too!

Melody wants to pretend to be a mommy cat and she wants her friends to be her little kittens, but everyone else wants to be their own different animal. Melody learns that parents can love all kinds of babies.

The bears learn that it is possible to play together in different ways when Melody wants to pretend to be a sand castle, and her friends want to be dinosaurs.

Crystal finds a big log and tries to think of a game the bears can all play. She almost gives up, but eventually discovers that the big log serves quite well as an armrest for reading a good book.

The bears learn that sharing can make others happy when Boomer, who has fun juggling three pine cones, gives one to each of his needy friends until he has none left for himself.

The bears learn more about the joy of rhythm and movement when Melody asks them to use their creativity to form the music group The Books and to attract books. But Melody finds it difficult to choose her book instrument.

The bears come across a mysterious creature (a moose) and Crystal is convinced that it is a horse, until she learns to admit that she doesn't know what it is.

Scout wants to snuggle with his friends, but the other bears think it's too hot. They change their minds after reading a book in the shade and discover the power of cuddling.

While searching for a book, Scout befriends a turtle and insists that the turtle can help them find books. The bears learn to adapt to the turtle's challenges.

When the bears reach a part of the forest that the sunlight does not reach, Scout is reluctant to move forward. With Melody's help, Scout learns to use the power of imagination to help her overcome her fears and keep going.
