Children discuss the work The Terracotta Army. Several terracotta soldiers make up the world’s largest army of statues. This army is located in China, in the Mausoleum—that is, the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. He is a famous figure because he was the country’s very first emperor. One day, he decided to build himself a magnificent mausoleum for after his death. The result: 8,000 clay statues… life-sized. To create this army, 700,000 artisans worked in shifts over a period of 40 years.
