Mathématique - Lire les minutes
After learning to read the full hours and afternoon. This video aims to learn how to read the minutes. I explain that an hour is composed of 60 minutes that we indicate by noting the numbers from 5 to 5. The big hand shows the minutes when the small one indicates the hours. To read the time, we start with the hours, then the minutes. When writing the time, it is possible to present it in different ways: 14 hours 25 minutes, 14h25, 14:25. It is important to understand that the hour hand does not jump from one hour to the next, so it is between two different times. Children do not always know what time it is, especially when the minute hand is on 55 and the hour hand is therefore very close to the next hour. I emphasize that the next hour is not reached until the hour hand is exactly on the hour and the big one on 12. I also introduce the quarter hour and half hour and explain their names. There are exercises to reinforce the skills learned.
