In this book, our young narrators, Xavier and Yasmine, guide us through their community of North Bay, Ontario. They alternate between personal narration, sometimes using “I”, and third-person narration as they introduce their family, friends and school. They also address readers together, using the pronouns “we” and “us”, and sometimes they even have a short conversation with each other. This approach creates an intimate, interactive atmosphere, allowing readers to learn how to introduce themselves and others well, while exploring the daily lives of important people in their community.
