The children discuss Grant Wood's American Gothic. This is the most famous painting in the United States. It is even a symbol for Americans. Grant loved to draw. In order to paint these characters as realistically as possible, Grant would even use real people as models. This particular work depicts his sister Nan and his dentist Dr. Byron McKeeby. These two people became famous, and toured the world. They have even become true symbols of American culture.
