Le village sans parents

The children discuss the work Children's Games by Pieter Bruegel. This painting shows several children doing various activities in small groups in a large outdoor courtyard. Unfortunately, almost nothing is known about this artist except that he lived over 450 years ago in the sixteenth century. Pieter's paintings have a recurring theme, his heroes are ordinary, normal, anonymous people. He loved to paint peasants in their peasant lives. This is called genre painting. Bruegel gives us very rich testimonies on the life of the villagers of his time.
