In this video, students learn how to calculate a time between two points in time. Using real-life situations, students learn two strategies for calculating time. The first technique is to go through the nearest full hours. In three steps, it is possible to find a duration. From the beginning of an event, go to the next full hour and then to the full hour before the end and to the end time. By adding the three durations found, students find the total duration. It is also possible to subtract to find the difference between the end and start times. After doing the calculation, students begin by subtracting the minutes. If subtraction is not feasible, then 'break' the hours by taking an hour and adding it to the minutes while remembering to make a conversion (+60min). The subtraction is then done by not mixing the minutes and hours. These strategies help solve time-related problems.
