La déclaration des droits de l'homme
On December 10, 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This text, which was inspired by the French declaration of 1789, aims to protect and guarantee the rights of all individuals, everywhere in the world. No country voted against the declaration, but eight abstained. La Grande Explication comes back on the history of this declaration and its immense symbolic scope. 'An ideal to be achieved by all peoples and all nations' that some governments still do not apply, flouting daily the fundamental freedoms of millions of people.
