This series paints a realistic picture of the issues that teenagers in Northern Ontario and Acadia face on a daily basis. With Mique Michelle and her committed art, we go on an adventure to discover Northern Ontario, its landscapes and its francophone teenagers. This series highlights, under the guise of art and identity development, the challenges and pride of minority communities. Topics such as pride, traditions, cultural identity, diversity in all its forms, the importance of Aboriginal peoples in history, the celebration of nature and art are addressed to help students realize the place of the French language in their daily lives. It is important to value one's languages and cultures and to celebrate the contribution of First Peoples to our history. But how do Francophone teens in Ontario and Acadia celebrate their roots? How do they maintain a sense of belonging to their culture? How do their Aboriginal roots make them proud? This series takes a unique look at the art, sense of belonging and pride of youth in Northern Ontario and Acadia. The development of identity, art, and pride in Francophone and Aboriginal roots are at the heart of each episode. Students will be inspired by the confidences of these dynamic and bright young people who share their passions for their cultures and their views on the Francophone world of Ontario and Acadia.
