On July 17, 1945, as World War II was coming to an end, the heads of state of the three great Allied powers - the USSR, the United States and the United Kingdom - met in Potsdam, a southwestern suburb of Berlin. Joseph Stalin, Harry Truman and Winston Churchill wanted to endorse the Yalta agreements and prepare for the world to come.
