Nos histoires, notre histoire - Lemieux: Le village disparu
On June 20, 1993, two years after the demolition of the last building in the village of Lemieux, a huge mud pit swept away a driver and his vehicle, swallowing up a vast portion of land. That's why the residents of the French-speaking village of Lemieux in Eastern Ontario were suddenly forced to leave their hamlet. At any moment, its unstable clay soil was in danger of collapsing and taking everything with it. Our team revisits the history of this Franco-Ontarian village, which was founded in 1850 and enjoyed a vibrant social life, but has now completely disappeared.
