À bout de souffle
For over six years, Yanick Landry has devoted his free time to GINA (Greyhounds In Need of Adoption), one of the largest greyhound transition centers in Ontario.
Yanick helps this non-profit organization achieve its goal of finding loving, permanent adoptive families for retired greyhounds. He also oversees this important transition in the lives of these dogs. After their racing careers, the dogs pass through a foster home before joining their adoptive family.
Yanick, who has adopted two greyhounds himself, shares his passion for these pointy-nosed dogs, as well as his desire to educate people about the adoption and transition process for these four-legged retirees, and the need to give them a second life.
In Milton, Ontario, Christine Lacombe talks about the pleasure of sharing her life with her two Labradors, Maverick and Libby. Christine comes from a family where volunteering is at the forefront: giving her time and sharing with others are core values. So it was only natural for Christine to join the canine therapy team at St. John Ambulance. It's an amalgam of her two greatest passions.
