When we think of air, many questions arise: Does air exist? Can we catch air? What is the purpose of air? Is air matter? This video will answer some of these questions. It attempts to show the existence and materiality of air through experiments that can be done at home. Although air is invisible, students can see that air occupies space (in an inflated balloon) and can be transported. Students also observe that air affects other objects. In order to become aware of the presence of static air, I suggest putting a glass at the bottom of the water with the opening facing down and a handkerchief at the bottom. The fact that the handkerchief remains dry shows that the water does not touch it because of the presence of air.
