Raconte-moi la Grande Guerre - La communication
In this episode, Mélanie Morin-Pelletier, from the Canadian War Museum, recounts how communications between families and soldiers fighting at the front on the other side of the ocean, in Europe, were carried out. Without the Internet or telephone, all that remained was postal mail. Despite the slowness of this mode of communication, it was essential for keeping soldiers' spirits up and families in touch with their loved ones. In all, some two million letters passed through the Canadian postal system during the First World War.
