Raconte-moi la Grande Guerre - La technologie
In this episode, Martin Laberge, professor at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, explains the technological evolution sparked by World War I. The First World War gave rise to numerous inventions. New, more powerful and more deadly technologies were introduced, which explains why so many people lost their lives in this conflict - 9 million of them. Battlefields welcomed the return of helmets, which had been absent from combat since the Middle Ages, tanks and poison gas, as well as airplanes, which brought war into a third dimension, that of the air.
